Conor McAneney, placekicker for the Florida State Seminoles football team, was arrested on March 12, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.[1][2]
He faces two third-degree felony charges—battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence—and one misdemeanor charge of trespass in a structure or conveyance, according to Broward County Sheriff's Office booking records.[1][3]
Bond was set at $2,000 for the battery charge, $500 for resisting an officer and $250 for trespassing.[1][2]
McAneney's booking photo shows a cut on his lower lip and a scratch below his right eye.[1][4]
Florida State head coach Mike Norvell announced on March 13 that McAneney has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities.[2][5]
The arrest took place during Florida State's spring break. Seminoles spring practices, which began March 11, were paused following the incident and are scheduled to resume on March 20.[1][6]
A native of Tallaght, Ireland, McAneney transferred to Florida State from Quincy University, an NCAA Division II school in Illinois, ahead of the 2024 season.[7][8]
In 2024, McAneney converted 7 of 10 field-goal attempts for the Seminoles, with a longest make of 45 yards.[7][9]
